SPRINGFIELD - State Senator James Clayborne (D-Belleville) supported a $200,000 state grant that will help poor children in the Venice School District.
The grant program, operated by the Illinois Department of Human Services, is called the Early Care Grant and will be operated at Venice Elementary School.
Clayborne supported the grant because the Venice Head Start program was closed due to federal budget cuts. In the new grant, no federal money is included.
